from the President of the Lion Diplomats
The Lion Diplomats is the student/alumni association on Albright’s campus who serve as a bridge between the alumni of Albright and the current student body. With the help of the Director of Alumni Relations and two Albright students, namely Darryl McCullough and Sarah Dady, Albright began organizing its first student/alumni association in 1984, and it became recognized as a fully operating student organization in the Fall of 1985. Over the years the Lion Diplomats have played major roles in the organization and development of popular events such like Homecoming, Senior Mystery Dinner, Alumni Weekend, Oozeball (volleyball in the mud), Sports Night, and a number of other activities as well as popular fundraisers. As a freshman last year, I was certainly a very active member of this organization and loved all the activities we were involved in and I wanted to continue operating as such. When I was nominated last Spring I was thrilled and nervous to take on such a responsibility as a Sophomore, but I had a lot of people behind me and the other group members all supported me. That’s the type of atmosphere we share. That’s the type of atmosphere I want for all of our participants, so we (the E-board and myself) will be working diligently to make sure that the consensus is the same. With icebreakers at the beginning of each meeting and then remarks from the Advisor, Mrs. Kelly Ferry, and the E-board, students have been having a real good time so far. I know that the Executive Board and our lovely advisor are excited about this year, but I am confident that our new group of participants will come with the same excitement and lots of cool and innovative ideas that will make this a most memorable year for the Diplomats. I'd personally like to thank all of our returning members for their support this year as well as the new class of students for all their input and enthusiasm. Thanks to all the alumni for their encouragement and support. To the Office of Alumni Relations and the entire staff…a great big hug and a sincere Thank You.
