You Don't Own a House, So You Don't Need Insurance
… or DO You?
Congratulations! You've graduated from college, you've moved out on your own, into your first apartment. It's not a big place, but it's your place! Not much in it yet, so no need for insurance, right?
WRONG! And here's why:
YOUR STUFF WOULD BE EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE!
Start adding it up: how many CD's do you have? What if you had to replace all the clothes in your closet? Do you have a TV, a VCR, a computer, a sound system? What if there were a fire and you lost all of your belongings? How much would it cost to have to replace all of your stuff? A Renters Policy would cover your Personal Property, subject to a deductible, and up to your policy limit, for lots of perils, including fire, theft and vandalism. (and the coverage is CHEAP!)
IF YOUR PLACE WERE DAMAGED, YOU'D HAVE TO FIND A TEMPORARY PLACE TO LIVE!
Suppose your place were damaged by fire and you couldn't live there for a few weeks … or months! You'd have to find a temporary space to live. You might have to eat out instead of cooking at home. Could you pay those extra expenses out of pocket? A Renters Policy would pay Additional Living Expenses -- increased expenses over and above what you'd normally pay for meals, rent, etc. -- caused by one of the covered perils, up to your policy limit. (and the coverage is CHEAP!)
YOU CAUSE PROPERTY DAMAGE OR BODILY INJURY TO SOMEONE ELSE, AND THEY SUE YOU!
You're on the golf course, and you hit a stray ball. Another golfer is hit, and he sues you for his medical bills and mental anguish. Have you read in the newspapers how much juries are awarding to injured parties these days? Could you afford to be held legally liable to the tune of a couple hundred thousand dollars? A Renters Policy would provide Personal Liability coverage to pay for someone else's bodily injury or property damage that you're legally responsible for, up to your policy limit. It may also pay for your defense against such claims or suits! (and the coverage is CHEAP!)
YOU NEED TO PAY FOR YOUR FRIEND'S FIRST AID WHEN HE'S ACCIDENTALLY INJURED IN YOUR APARTMENT!
While hanging out at your place, your friend trips over your coffee table and suffers a nasty gash on his leg. You need to take him to an emergency room, and you're shocked by the bill. A Renters Policy pays Medical Expenses to Others, up to your policy limit, for someone who's accidentally injured on your premises while there with your permission. (and the coverage is CHEAP!)
