Robert A. Maro, William E. Morrison and Carrie Miller to be Inducted into Athletics Hall of Fame; Rajah Shriners Honored

Robert A. Maro '99, William E. Morrison '74 and Carrie Miller '01 were inducted into Albright's Athletic Hall of Fame during Friday night, October 14th, in a dinner and ceremony on the Albright campus.

Maro lettered in both football and baseball for four years. He was named First-Team All-Middle Atlantic Conference as a defensive back in football from 1996-98, and holds Albright's record for most interceptions in a career with 23. In 1996 Maro was named First-Team All-American, then earned Second-Team All-American honors in 1997.

Maro was also a standout center fielder on the baseball team, setting numerous records during his tenure. He holds school records for hits in a season with 59; runs in a season with 44; stolen bases in a game with four; and stolen bases in his career with 53. In 1999, Maro was named Albright's Most Outstanding Male Athlete.

From 1970-73, Morrison anchored one of the best defensive units in school history. He was named First-Team All Middle Atlantic Conference as a defensive tackle in 1971, '72, and '73. He was a key player on the 1972 MAC championship team that finished the season with an 8-1 record and allowed just 88 points for the entire season. Morrison was awarded the Anthony C. Lanshe award for Most Valuable Lineman as a junior and senior, and in 1973 was chosen for the Associated Press All-Pennsylvania team.

Miller was recognized as an All-American swimmer in 1999-2000. She was twice named the Most Outstanding Female Swimmer at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championship meet while leading the Lady Lions to their first two conference championships. Miller broke four conference, six team, and five pool records, of which she still holds two conference, six team, and three pool records. Twice she qualified for the NCAA Championships, and in 2000 she was earned All-American status in the 200 freestyle. Miller also found success on the field hockey and track and field teams, and was named Albright's 2001 Most Outstanding Senior Female Athlete.

The Rajah Shriners have sponsored the Pretzel Bowl football game for 56 years. This event has raised more that $2 million to help support 22 Shriners' hospitals throughout North America. The Shriners work with Albright College staff, the athletic department and students to make this yearly event a success. The 2006 Pretzel Bowl game, played September 30 against Juniata College, was the 56th consecutive Pretzel Bowl game.
