GETTING STARTED
- Obtain a college ID/library card from your site coordinator. You need an ID from the Office of Public Safety (1311 College Avenue) to borrow books, use interlibrary loan or access the electronic resources from off-campus. Contact your site coordinator for assistance.
- Ask for help early. Contact the reference staff at 610-921-7211 or by email at libraryref@alb.edu if you are experiencing any problems using our facilities, resources or services.
- Check the hours or call ahead before you come in for assistance to be sure that a reference librarian will be available to assist you.
- Create a DBA (Declining Balance Account) so that your ID card becomes a college debit card if you are planning to use the Library at the Reading campus. You need a DBA card to make photocopies in the Library at the student rate of $.08 each (cash sales cost $.15 each). In addition you can use the card for sodas in the campus vending machines and for food at Jake's Place. New accounts must be made with Student Accounts at 610-921-7777, but students with existing accounts can add value by using the ValuePort machine in the Campus Center main lobby (accepts $1, $5, $10 and $20 bills) or by contacting the Student Accounts office to add value by credit card (MC, VISA, Discover).
- Obtain a college network account. To use the campus and site labs, you need a college network account. Contact the Information Technology Services HelpDesk (610-921-7676 or helpdesk@alb.edu.)
- Obtain a college email account. Contact the Information Technology Services HelpDesk (610-921-7676 or by email at helpdesk@alb.edu).
- Obtain a Blackboard account. The main contacts for Blackboard support are via Larry Sands or Mickey Baines. Additional account assistance (e.g., need to change password) is available at the Library Reference Desk during regular reference hours at 610-921-7211 or libraryref@alb.edu.
