Fragments of Truth: Mythology, Icons, and Popular Culture
Collage and Painting
Through February 29, 2008

With imagery that is rooted in art, literature, and popular culture the artists challenge our concepts of memory and myth, desires and journeys. Sensitive, intimate, and often humorous, these exquisitely crafted works take us on a series of travels through the Renaissance and Hitchcock's sky full of birds, with a short side-trip through the mountains as Marco Polo struggles with new hiking boots. Thought provoking scenes ask us to reexamine a variety of characters as well as concepts rooted in childhood stories and things we thought we knew.

"If mankind is to be saved, science must take over ."

When Anthony Burgess' stage version of his provocative novella, A Clockwork Orange, opened at the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1990, London's Guardian newspaper wrote, "It should tour the world!" The Wachovia Theatre plays host to Alex and his vicious gang of thugs as they present their terrifying allegory of Christian free-will with a modern twist - set to the music of Beethoven. A must see!

For mature audiences only.
