The Class of 2008 Leaves its Legacy on Albright

Student philanthropy is deep-seeded on Albright's campus. From Spring Break trips to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity or Katrina relief, to the Helping Paws club and Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity, to raising money for medical research and holding campus wide blood drives, Albrightians are always giving!

The senior class gift drive is a time honored tradition at colleges and universities nationwide. Albrightians, too, have a long standing tradition of senior giving. In recent years, the Class of 2006 created the Senior Walkway Legacy. This program was designed to be ongoing effort where seniors are able to renovate run-down walkways around campus and replace them with walkways accented by large pavers bearing the names of those who give $100 or more to the College.

Leave your legacy!

The Class of 2008 will join the Class of 2006 and the Class of 2007 in raising financial support for the rundown walkways around campus. A brick walkway will be accented by 12 x 12 inch pavers bearing the names of seniors who give $100 or more.

This is the most inexpensive way to have your name permanently on Albright's campus! This opportunity is only open to graduating seniors. After that, you will have to pay the big bucks to get your name engraved somewhere on campus.

On a more serious note, in addition to having your name engraved on the Walkway, a gift of $100 or more will make you a young alumni member of the prestigious President's Council. President's Council donors are invited to a black tie dinner with the President each May.

Interested in getting involved?

Co-Chairs and committee members are selected right after Spring classes begin and work throughout the semester developing a public education campaign on philanthropy and The Senior Walkway. Student volunteers help to:

  • Educate their classmates on the importance of giving back to Albright via e-mails, phone calls and most importantly, personal contacts
  • Solicit gifts and pledges to the Senior Walkway throughout the campaign at senior events and tables in the campus center

Serving as a committee member makes a nice addition to your resume!
